A heart of gold, but a woman of steel, Wendy Frew’s commitment to netball seems to know no bounds.
The captain of the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel, Wendy led the team to stunning victories in every game of the 2017 ANZ premiership for a perfect season and the cup, and has played more than 150 games as a national netball star.
She made her debut for the Southern Sting in 2002, and for the Silver Ferns in 2008.
But it’s not just netball Wendy can turn her hand to, having represented New Zealand in both softball and touch rugby as well, not to mention juggling the busy elite athlete’s responsibilities with those of being a mum of two under 5-year-olds.
She’s recently confirmed she will pull on the Steel dress again next season, which will be her 16th year of elite netball.
