Mayor Tim Shadbolt has put Invercargill firmly on the map.
His achievements on behalf of the city have been nothing short of inspirational.
Mayor Shadbolt has been instrumental in helping to turn Invercargill’s population decline around – helping to shift it from the fastest declining city in Australasia in 1993, to a thriving, dynamic, innovative City with a population increase of 2.7% at the last census. He advocated for the establishment of a sister city relationship with Kumagaya and has raised the profile of the city through local, national, and international media, films and major events.
Supporting the zero fees scheme at the Southern Institute of Technology, the development of facilities like Splash Palace, the Civic Theatre upgrade, the SIT Velodrome, and the reconstruction of Invercargill’s Airport are just a few examples of major projects he has helped develop and promote.
Mayor Tim Shadbolt has been without doubt, a hard working ambassador for the City of Invercargill.
