"I'm a true Southlander, my heart and home are in the city"

She’s been described as “one of New Zealand's greatest-ever recording stars and vocalists", but Invercargill songstress Suzanne Prentice is more than just a pretty voice.

One of the city’s most beloved and celebrated entertainers, Suzanne was named New Zealand Entertainer of the year in 1984 and received an OBE for services to music in 1995.

Having been an entertainer, both nationally and internationally, for more than 40 years, she has used her talent to work with charities such as World Vision, and wrote and performed 10 shows for ‘Kids for Kids’ over 18 years. These shows were produced nation-wide during that time, and raised more than $12 million for underprivileged children around the world.

She’s been a member of the Invercargill Licensing Trust since 2004, and spent three years as deputy president.

Suzanne continues to work on projects and events throughout the city, including helping to rebuild Southland SPCA.

She gets great enjoyment from working for smaller groups and individuals within Invercargill to ensure they have the same opportunities to achieve success.
