Cycling his way around the world, Eddie Dawkins is helping to put Invercargill on the map as the city which can produce world-class athletes time and time again.

Having trained at SIT Velodrome, the world champion and Olympic medal-winning Eddie has an impressive track record.

Affectionately known as “Big Dawk”, Eddie helped New Zealand bring home silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the Men’s Cycling Team Sprint, has secured three world championship titles in this event, is the current Commonwealth gold medallist in this event, has previously won the silver medal twice at the world champs in the Keirin event and has achieved an assortment of silver and bronze medals at previous Commonwealth Games, both in team and individual events.

Eddie has twice been named the Southland Sports Awards Senior Sportsperson of the Year.
